What is the WAN port used for? (WE826)

The WE826 has 4 LAN ports (yellow) that are used as a network switch for hardwiring devices to your router. The blue WAN port is only used when the device is being used as a backup internet. For example, a restaurant has to have internet access to authorize credit card purchases. If their internet service is down, that leaves them without the ability to easily take payments. In this situation, the WE826 with cellular service can be a backup plan that will automatically take over if the cabled internet fails. In this instance, the cabled internet would plug into the WAN port.
